Appearance
Beautiful medium-intensity ruby color, bright and limpid. The rim still shows purple highlights, a sign of a youthful, vibrant wine. The legs are regular, indicating good concentration.
Nose
The first impression immediately opens with clean aromas of morello cherry and fresh raspberry. With aeration, the bouquet gains depth: notes of blackberry, blackcurrant, and peony emerge. A hint of finely integrated oak brings touches of vanilla, licorice, and a smoky note that enhances the wine’s complexity.
Palate
The attack is supple and straightforward, marked by lovely fresh fruit. The mid-palate reveals an elegant structure, with fine, perfectly ripe tannins. The texture is velvety, well-balanced between vibrant fruit and an acidity that lengthens the wine. The finish, persistent (about 7 seconds on the palate), lingers on notes of black cherry and a subtle minerality.
Conclusion
A classic Santenay Rouge, blending the generosity of Pinot Noir with the precision of a Côte de Beaune terroir. Elegant and harmonious, it can be enjoyed now for its lively fruit, but also has aging potential of 5 to 7 years depending on the vintage.
