Wines Mâcon and Mâcon-Villages Clos des Vignes du Maynes - 910 - 2022

Visually: light garnet color, medium opacity with ruby highlights; clear earth-toned rim; fine, well-spaced, fairly long legs. First nose: vegetal notes, a hint of candied prune, slightly peppery, slight vanilla note, maybe a touch of green apple, lots of freshness. Second nose: more pronounced vegetal note, light white flower nuance, damp humus, slight textured note that's hard to define. On the palate: silky touch, elegant, well-integrated tannins, tip of the tongue tingled by a spicy note, candied prune note pleasantly hovering over the whole, warm but not too much, pleasantly expansive, beautiful freshness that balances everything, lovely length with the vanilla candied prune note. A very fine wine, with good aging potential. Paired perfectly with dried, well-smoked, almost “turned” beef, as well as a Normandy-style chicken.
