Ortega is a white grape variety primarily grown in Germany and the United Kingdom, known for its early ripening and ability to thrive in cool climates. The wines produced from Ortega are often aromatic and expressive, displaying pronounced notes of ripe stone fruits such as peach and apricot, along with hints of honey, elderflower, and, on occasion, musk or nuts. On the palate, Ortega wines are typically medium-bodied with a soft, round texture, balanced acidity, and a slightly off-dry to semi-sweet profile, making them approachable and versatile.

The grape’s main viticultural regions include Rheinhessen, Nahe, and the Pfalz in Germany, as well as select vineyards in southern England. Ortega is frequently crafted into varietal wines, often in late-harvest or Spätlese styles that emphasize its natural sweetness and aromatic intensity.
