The grape variety Leányka

Leányka is a traditional white grape variety native to Hungary, known for producing delicate, aromatic wines with a charming character. On the nose, Leányka wines express fragrant floral aromas reminiscent of acacia blossom and elderflower, complemented by notes of ripe white stone fruits such as peach, pear, and apricot. Subtle citrus nuances and a gentle hint of honey often contribute to the wine’s fresh yet rounded palate.

The main viticultural regions for Leányka are the Eger and Transylvania (Erdély) areas, where the grape thrives in the continental climate and limestone-rich soils. Leányka is typically vinified as a dry white wine, though semi-dry and off-dry styles are also found.
