Manzoni Bianco is an Italian white grape variety, most notably cultivated in the Veneto region. Developed in the early 20th century by Professor Luigi Manzoni, it is a cross between Riesling and Pinot Blanc, which imparts a distinctive and refined profile. The wine typically displays a fresh and aromatic bouquet, with notes of white peach, pear, citrus blossom, and delicate hints of wild herbs. On the palate, Manzoni Bianco offers a harmonious balance of crisp acidity and subtle minerality, often complemented by nuances of apple and almond in the finish.
Mainly found in the hills of Treviso and other parts of northern Italy, Manzoni Bianco thrives in cooler climates, enabling the grapes to retain vibrant acidity while developing expressive aromas. The varietal is usually vinified as a dry white wine, but some producers experiment with richer barrel-aged styles or late-harvest expressions.
Manzoni Bianco pairs exceptionally well with a range of dishes. It is ideal with seafood, shellfish, and fresh cheeses, and complements light pastas or risottos with spring vegetables. Its versatility and freshness also make it a suitable partner for sushi, poultry, and bright Mediterranean salads.
