The grape variety Inzolia

Inzolia is a distinguished white grape variety primarily cultivated in Sicily, especially within the western provinces such as Trapani, Palermo, and Agrigento, with secondary plantings in Tuscany. It is renowned for producing wines with a refined aromatic profile, featuring prominent notes of citrus, green apple, white peach, and subtle almond undertones. On the palate, Inzolia wines exhibit fresh acidity, moderate structure, and a delicately lingering finish, occasionally complemented by savoury and saline nuances reflecting their Mediterranean origins.

Typically vinified as a single varietal or blended, particularly in Sicily’s DOC expressions such as Sicilia and Menfi, Inzolia forms the backbone of crisp, unoaked white wines, as well as playing a supporting role in the production of fortified Marsala.
