The grape variety Rebo

Rebo is a distinctive red grape variety originating from northern Italy, particularly the Trentino region. Developed in the mid-20th century, Rebo is a cross between Merlot and Teroldego, which gives it a balance of structure, fruitiness, and complexity. On the nose, Rebo wines exhibit vibrant aromas of ripe black cherries, plum, and blackberry, complemented by hints of violet, black pepper, and subtle herbal undertones. The palate is medium to full-bodied, offering smooth tannins and refreshing acidity. Flavors often echo the dark fruit character with additional nuances of cocoa, licorice, and earthy minerality, resulting in a well-rounded and elegant wine.

Rebo is primarily cultivated in Trentino, with pockets of plantings in Lombardia and other northern Italian regions. The wines are typically crafted in both unoaked and lightly oaked styles, ranging from youthful and fruit-driven to more structured bottles suitable for short-term aging.
