The grape variety Ryzlink vlašský

Ryzlink vlašský, internationally known as Welschriesling, is a white grape variety prominent in Central and Eastern Europe, particularly in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, and Hungary. Aromatically, it presents crisp green apple, citrus zest, and subtle floral notes, often complemented by hints of meadow herbs and a characteristic fresh minerality. On the palate, Welschriesling wines typically offer lively acidity, medium body, and vibrant flavors of lemon, pear, and occasionally light stone fruit, finishing with a clean, refreshing taste.

The primary wine regions for Ryzlink vlašský include Moravia in the Czech Republic, Burgenland and Styria in Austria, and various subregions in Hungary and Slovakia. The grape is most commonly vinified as a dry wine, emphasizing its bright, youthful character. However, in select regions, it is also crafted into late-harvest, botrytised, and sparkling wines, demonstrating remarkable versatility.
